- Item Description:
Offered for sale from an extensive collection of unique firearms is a hard to find WW2 Australian issue Smith & Wesson M&P model known as the 'Victory' which was provided by the US as part of the Lend Lease program. This one is chambered in the .38/200, known as .38 S&W which was used by the Commonwealth where most were chambered in .38 SPL. This example is clearly stamped with Australian Broad Arrow DOD & is marked 'US PROPERTY' along with 'GHD' which is the Inspectors mark for that time, along with 'MADE IN USA'. It is believed that around 50,000 were provided to Australian forces & were issued alongside the Webley Mk IV & the Enfield No. 1 Mk2. Many were returned to the US after the war as they became highly desirable to US collectors. This is in original complete condition & has matching numbers as far as we can see including inside the grips, has not been refinished nor has any non original markings. The bore is very good so it can be used in service pistol comps or obtained with a standard handgun licence (130mm barrel), however as with all firearms of this age, we recommend an inspection by a qualified person prior to doing so. Do your own research & view the photos closely, as these form the main description. Please ask for more if desired. This is one for the serious collector. Price includes postage to your dealer other than WA residents who will need to call for pricing.
